The camera shot used here is medium close up as it is showing a head to shoulders shot off the police with helps shows us the realisation and expression of the police of realised who the person in front of them which gives the police expression of seriousness and worrier as he is having to hunt is own boss. therefore showing us not only the leaders expression but more police behind the the first man. this then allows the viewers to understand and comprehend as to who and what is going on.

Image result for avatar film poster

Language:

In the film poster Avatar the title and the use of credits clearly shows the motive of this image which is to promote and advertise the film poster due to the use of key features such as the title and billing block near the bottom of the film poster which is predominantly found only in film posters. In the film poster their is a abundance of the colour blue on the left hand side of the film poster which tends to be heavily linked with sci-fi films with the same concept being used in this film poster as well. another key sign that this is a sci fi film is the use of the futuristic images and complexion on the central image of the poster. As well as the use of background image with the use of blue rain forest/jungle feel.

Institution:

The film Avatar was created by the production company light storm entertainment who are used too making huge profit films such as Titanic (1997). and Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991). the film also had a huge boost due to the reviews it had received on the film release date due to its great hype towards the film with adverts trailers and posters almost everywhere around the world due to the incredible budget that was given to create the film which stands at a unbelievable amount of 237 million budget which went mainly towards the film but the promotion for the film was staggering. and due to al this promotion it created a astronomical amount of sales on the first weekend in cinemas at the amount of £8,509,050 (UK) (18 December 2009) in only the UK. over the films course it created a gross earning of  $237,000,000 (estimated) which therefore created a massive income/profit on the film in the whole course of the film in box office.

Audience:

From the film poster we can see that it seems as though it is not your average everyday hero saving the day and winning the girl due to the facial expressions of the two in the central image of the film poster as well as we can see that the main hero actor looks like he is tough and a warrior type of hero. therefor making him the stereotypical male hero. however the female actor in this film does not seem like your average heroine in this film due to her not looking as though she has any interest in the man and has more prowess in this film poster than the stereotypical female actor. the look in the males eyes seems as though he has gone through some struggles and conflict and is fighting though that making it seem as though there is a real struggle to whatever is going on with the female actor.  Although the films plot seems to be different and un-stereotypical i still believe that the percentages of target audience will still be a more balance towards males slightly with percentages of 60% to 40% due to that being the male character having the central image which will stand out and bring the main amount of audience to the film as well as due to the trailer really showing alot on the male character rather than any other character.

Representation:

the film is targeted at a age group of 14-30 as the film as a sci-fi film type of feel so the younger teens will quite enjoy as well as the production company light storm have made some very big film hits in the past so this will intrigue a older set of audience due to the massive hits in the past such as Titanic and Teminator 2 as well as judgement day
